Lakers Complete Dramatic Comeback, Split Weekend Tilt

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team split its home weekend series, storming back for a 71–69 victory over SUNY Adirondack on Saturday before dropping Sunday's contest to Hudson Valley Community College, 90–67.

Finger Lakes produced one of its best finishes of the season, erasing a seven-point deficit in the final three minutes to stun SUNY Adirondack, 71–69.

Ian Florence (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) drilled the go-ahead 3 with under a minute to play, completing a 40-point second half that powered the comeback. Florence finished with 13 points, all coming from long range, while Ryan Clark (Orlando, FL./South Lake) delivered a dominant performance inside with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals.

George Spinelli (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) added 12 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds in a strong two-way outing, while Joe Caito (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) posted 12 points and 9 rebounds. Kriss Baskevics (Kekava, Lativa/International School of Nice) added 9 points and 6 boards, knocking down 3 threes.

The Lakers outrebounded Adirondack 42–34 and hit 11 three-pointers, including several in the closing stretch to fuel the comeback.

On Sunday, Finger Lakes returned to Putt Moore Court but ran into a high-powered Hudson Valley team that used a 56-point second half to pull away.

Hunter Martin (Auburn, N.Y./Union Springs) led the Lakers with 18 points off the bench, shooting 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from three. Florence added 14 points, and Joe Caito contributed 8 points and 3 rebounds.

George Spinelli finished with 7 points and 4 assists, and Damari Davis (Rochester, N.Y./University Prep) added 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Xxavier Benjamin (Donaldsonville, LA./Donaldsonville) grabbed 6 boards in 18 minutes of action.

Finger Lakes was competitive at the halftime break (31–34), but Hudson Valley caught fire from deep and in transition, using multiple scoring runs to stretch the margin over the final 20 minutes.
