Lakers Drop Home Contest to Monroe

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team was unable to close the gap against Monroe Community College on Wednesday night, falling 82–65 despite balanced contributions across the lineup.

Monroe built a 41–29 advantage by halftime and matched that output in the second half to keep control of the game. The Lakers continued to compete defensively and on the glass but struggled to find consistent offensive rhythm against Monroe's pressure.

Ian Florence (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) and George Spinelli (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) led Finger Lakes with 12 points apiece. Florence added 4 assists and 3 rebounds, while Spinelli chipped in 4 assists and 5 boards.

Ryan Clark (Orlando, FL./South Lake) finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Joe Caito (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) added 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Damari Davis (Rochester, N.Y./University Prep) contributed 7 rebounds, while Hunter Martin (Auburn, N.Y./Union Springs) added 8 points off the bench with a pair of three-pointers.

Finger Lakes finished with 46 rebounds and 15 assists but shot 29.3% from the field as Monroe capitalized on scoring runs in both halves to maintain separation.
