Watertown, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes men's basketball team came up just short on the road Wednesday night, falling to the Jefferson Cannoneers, 85–78. Trailing by 18 at halftime, the Lakers mounted an impressive second-half comeback, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Ryan Clark (Orlando, FL./ South Lake) paced Finger Lakes with a strong all-around performance, recording a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. George Spinelli (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) contributed 16 points while also dishing out 5 assists. Amir Tashimov (Jacksonville, FL. / Potter's House Christian Academy) scored 8 points while also collecting 3 steals in a great effort off the bench. Ian Florence (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid) chipped in, scoring 9 points and hitting 2 threes.
The Lakers return home on Saturday to face Tompkins Cortland Community College. They'll look to get back in the win column as they begin a favorable stretch, with six of their next seven games played on their home court.
