Canindaigua, N.Y. - On a cold afternoon in upstate New York, the Lakers opened the game with a hot start and never looked back, defeating Tompkins Cortland Community College 84–77.
Fueling the fast start was Kyle Brooks (Miami, FL. / Palm Bay), who came off the bench to score 10 points in the first half. Ryan Clark (Orlando, FL./South Lake) recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) led the way in the second half, pouring in a team-high 18 points while adding six rebounds to help seal the victory. Ian Florence (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid) delivered a well-rounded performance, contributing 14 points, five rebounds, and knocking down three three-pointers.
