Lakers Secure Win Against MCC

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Freshman Chuck Domm (Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester) scored two goals, and classmate Evan Stevely (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) added an insurance goal to power the Finger Lakes Community College men's soccer team past Monroe Community College, 3-1 Sunday afternoon.

The first half was a hard-fought defensive battle between the Lakers (4-3) and the Division 1 Tribunes at FLCC's Turf Facility. Freshman Mike Rasciatore (Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester) made several diving saves, turning away a few point-blank shots to keep the Tribunes off the scoreboard in the opening half.

The Lakers also had their fair share of good scoring chances, but neither squad scored during the first half. Chuck Domm got FLCC on the board in the 57th minute, converting a nice goal past the MCC keeper. The Tribunes pulled even in the 63rd minute, but from that moment on, it was all FLCC.

The Lakers did not let up their attack, and five minutes later, in the 68th minute, Chuck Domm, scored the eventual game-winning goal. Stevely helped cap off the Lakers win with a goal in the 72nd minute, while Rasciatore finished with 13 saves.

The Lakers also traveled to Fredonia in a match against the Fredonia JV, and Chuck Domm had the lone goal for the Lakers in the match, a 2-1 defeat. Rasciatore made 12 saves on the night for the Lakers.

FLCC travels to Jefferson Community College for a 4 p.m. game Wednesday. The team's next home game is Sept. 28th when Genesee Community College comes to campus.
