WATERTOWN, N.Y. - The Lakers wasted no time grabbing control, striking just three minutes into the match. Bernardo Reffiel Del Castel (Sergipe, Brazil/Pró-mundo) netted the opener off a setup from Robin Giesing (Essen, Germany/Gymnasium-Essen-Werden) to put Finger Lakes in front early.
Jefferson kept the margin at one for the rest of the half, but Finger Lakes doubled the advantage just two minutes into the second period. Freshman defender Nathan Salter (Warwick, England/Aylesford School) buried a chance created by Germán Guzzi (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Imei) to make it 2–0.
The Lakers sealed the result in the 83rd minute when Giesing capped the scoring, finishing a ball from Daniel Ojedayo (Ibadan, Nigeria/Opicc) for the 3–0 final. Sophomore goalkeeper Joshua Koobs (Leverkusen, Germany/Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium) recorded three saves for his third shutout of the season, anchoring a back line that limited Jefferson to just three shots on target.
The win improved Finger Lakes to 9–1 overall and extended their shutout streak to two.
