BATAVIA, N.Y. - The #2 Lakers delivered another statement in Region III play, defeating #10 Genesee 3–1 to stretch their winning streak to seven matches and improve to 11–1.
Finger Lakes took control midway through the first half. Just a minute later, Robin Giesing (Essen, Germany/Gymnasium-Essen-Werden) made it 2–0, finishing a ball played in by Suarez.
The Lakers kept the momentum after halftime, as Giesing struck again in the 49th minute, this time unassisted, to extend the lead to 3–0. Genesee managed to pull one back later in the half, but the Lakers' back line closed out the 3–1 result.
