It was a milestone day for Finger Lakes men's soccer. Sophomore forward Robin Giesing (Essen, Germany/Gymnasium-Essen-Werden) scored his 42nd career goal, breaking the program's record previously held by Athletics Hall of Famer Eric Marsh (41, 1996–97), as the Lakers rolled to a 5–0 win over Onondaga Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers dominated from start to finish, netting 5 goals and securing their 3rd consecutive clean sheet to move to 14–1 overall and 6–0 in conference play, sitting atop the Region III standings.
Finger Lakes opened the scoring early and never looked back, with goals from Nathan Salter (Warwick, England/Aylesford School), Bautista Suarez (Salta, Argentina/Colegio Belgrano), Germán Guzzi (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Imei), and Giesing. Abdelali Zariouh (Zeeland, Netherlands/Scalda) and Matt Sanderson (Harrogate, England/Garrogate Grammar School) each contributed assists, while Joshua Koobs (Leverkusen, Germany/Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium) recorded the shutout in goal.
With the victory, the Lakers extended their win streak to 10 straight matches and have now posted 10 shutouts this season, the most in the nation. The Lakers' only setback this season came in a 3–1 road loss to Division I opponent and #19-ranked Monroe Community College.
