Bio
Though unique, Dan Rizzieri's athletic journey speaks to his dedication and determination. A double below-knee amputee from Cohocton, N.Y., Dan made his mark in football and track and field during his high school years at Wayland-Cohocton Central School. When he joined the FLCC track and field team in 2010, he quickly made an impact on the track, setting a lasting school record in the triple jump.
In his freshman season, he won second place at the NJCAA Region III Championships and 7th in the NJCAA Division III National Championships, where he broke the FLCC triple jump record with a mark of 13.61m (44'8") which still stands to this day.
Rizzieri's athletic achievements extended to the U.S. Paralympic track and field team, where he consistently ranked amongst the top athletes in his classification. From 2009 to 2017, Rizzieri was a multi-time National Champion in the long and triple jump T43 Classification. He also held a World Ranking #1 And #2 in T43 long jump from 2010-2017, along with a world record holder for T43 long jump from 2013-2017. He was a two-time selection for the IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand (2011), where he earned 6th place in the long jump and the 400m, and France (2013) where he placed 6th in the 100m and 200m.
Today, Dan's passion for sports has transitioned to coaching the Wayland-Cohocton varsity track and field team, guiding the next generation of Eagles student-athletes. Beyond coaching, he is a devoted husband to his wife, Micalah, and a proud father of three sons, Carson, Walker, and Myles.
