CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's volleyball team scored back-to-back victories Saturday afternoon with wins over Nassau Community College and Clarkson University Club. The Lakers' performance saw their season record increase to 21-3, including a perfect 9-0 mark at home. Sophomore Daniel Seymour (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) emerged as the standout player of the day, leading the Lakers in both games. In a 3-1 win over Nassau Community College, Seymour led with a game-high 13 kills, while adding another 7 kills on a .545 hitting percentage in game two of the day against Clarkson University Club in a 3-0 win.
Teammates Nick Ferris (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and Aaron Hennessy (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) provided support to the attack, with Ferris' 14 kills in the two matches and Hennessy's efficiency on the attack with a .692 hitting percentage against Nassau. Freshman Evan Lukasiewicz (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) stepped up in the team's win over Clarkson, delivering double-digit kills alongside teammate Nick Ferris. Sophomore setter Bryce Ceravolo (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) distributed 84 assists across both matches to help lead an efficient offensive attack.
Defensively, the Lakers were led by standout performers AJ DeBalso (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and Bryce Nickson (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) who helped anchor the backcourt with 16 and 13 digs for the day, respectively. It was a collective effort for the Lakers who continue to roll through the second half of the season.
Up next is a road trip to Houghton University on Thursday, March 7th at 7 PM to take on the Highlanders before returning home that same week for their second matchup of the season with the Bryant & Stratton College (WI) Bobcats on Sunday, March 10th at 1 PM.
