The Finger Lakes Community College Cross Country team hosts the NJCAA Region III Championship last Saturday, 10/24.
The race was competitive with all nine schools competing for the Regional crown! Finger Lakes finished in 6th place overall with our men continuing to improve with every race. Josh Thorp led the way with the fastest time on our home course this season by a Laker! His time of 32:52.4 earned him 18th place overall. Following Josh was Dakota Cox who ran a personal best on the home course running over 6 minutes faster from a month ago, running a 33:42.8 for 23rd place. Sophomore captain Adam Thorman continued his streak of PR's this season with a 35: 40.3 for 29th place, which is a personal best by 53 seconds from last weekend!
Colin Delgado finished next for the Lakers in 30th place in 36:21 which is a 3:01 PR season best on this course, followed by Jake Lorah in 33rd place in 37:02.6 which was a 2:28 second PR for our home course as well! Our sixth runner, Joe Gaughan finished in 41:00 for 47th place which garnered him a 6:05 sec personal best for this course!
"For our athletes to run this well on the toughest course in the Region by far, is phenomenal. Having 6 new personal records is indicative of the consistent training and hard work these men have done. I am proud of their efforts and look forward to our final competition, the NJCAA National Championships on November 7th at Holyoke CC. Outstanding work Lakers!" - Coach Scott Williams
The Lakers will compete in the NJCAA National Championship on Saturday, November 7th at Holyoke Community College. Good Luck Lakers!
