FLCC Hosts MSAC Championship
Finger Lakes Community College hosted the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship last Saturday, October 17th. This is the first year that the MSAC Cross Country Championship has taken place since the 2001 season. Four colleges from the conference participated in the race including: Broome Community College, Jefferson Community College, Onondaga Community College and Finger Lakes Communitty College.
Finger Lakes had four runners that participated in Saturdays championship. Freshman Dakota Cox was the first Laker to finish the 8k course. He came in 8th overall with a time of 33:55:4. Next was Sophomore Adam Thorman who came in 12th at 36:33:9. Thorman was followed by sophomore Colin Delgado with a time of 39:22:2 that put him in 16th place overall. Joe Gaughan was next for the Lakers with a final time of 44:53:3 placing him in 21st place.
" I was very happy with the performance of our men as all four student athletes ran personal bests for this season on our home course! I am excited to see them all run this course again for the final time time this season in the Regional Championships to be held this Saturday! They have been working hard with long endurance runs, hill repeats and speed training as well. Getting to 'championship week' is always a fun and exciting time of the season as you hope all their workouts have prepared your athletes to run well at the National Championships!" -Coach Scott Williams
Broome Community College would take 1st place overall in the 2015 Mid-State Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship. The Lakers will stay at home this coming weekend as they Host the Region III Division III Cross Country Championship on Saturday, October 24th. The women's 5k race will begin at 11AM with the men's 8k race to follow. The awards ceremony will be held at the FLCC campus after the completion of the men's 8k.
