Cross Country Battles Through the Houghton Highlander Invitational
HOUGHTON, N.Y. - At the Houghton Highlander Invitational, the Finger Lakes Community College cross country teams faced stiff competition as they competed in the 6k (women's) and 8k (men's) races.
On the women's side, freshman Kayla Dunstan led the Lakers with a strong performance, finishing in 72nd place with a time of 29:22.4. Dunstan maintained consistent pacing throughout the course, with a 5K split of 24:11. Classmate Alana Bedell, completed the 6K in 83rd place, clocking a time of 36:03.8.
For the men's team, freshman Edarius Trimble crossed the finish line first for the Lakers, finishing the 8K course in 31:39.3 for 98th place. Griffin Miller followed close behind, securing 109th place with a time of 32:30.0. Timothy Vilkhu rounded out the Lakers' efforts with a time of 35:54.4, placing 122nd.
The Lakers will continue building on these performances as they prepare for the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championships next Saturday, October 19th on the Lakers home Bruce Bridgeman Course at Finger Lakes Community College.
