Bio

His Plaque Reads: R. Bruce Bridgman received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Michigan State and his Master's degree, in Business Education, from SUNY Buffalo and joined the faculty at Finger Lakes Community College in 1981. Bridgman, a successful high school coach (108-14 record) founded the Men's Cross Country program at Finger Lakes Community College that year. During his tenure as head coach his teams won seven conference championships and were ranked in the "Top 10" nationally nine years in a row. Under his guidance the program produced three Athletic All-Americans and four Academic All-Americans. Many of the runners Bridgman coached through the years are still competing today, a testament to the impact he had on the running community. Professor Emeritus Bridgman was an active runner himself, often competing in area 5K and 10K races. When not competing, he frequently volunteered his time and expertise to help others develop and promote their events. In 1999 the athletic department named the cross-country course in his honor for his long and dedicated service to the sport and the college.
