Bio
His Plaque Reads: Rob Wink has been running competitively since junior high school and credits high school and credits high school coach FLCC Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee Professor Emeritus Jack Coons influence with encouraging him. During his senior year at Canandaigua Academy, Rob was captain of both the cross-country and track and field teams, adn was named Most Valuable Player and All League in cross-country. While earning an associates degree in conservation at FLCC, he continued running cross-country. Rob pursued additional education and earned a B.S. degree in 1993 and a Ph.D. degree in 2002 from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Although ESF had no cross country team, Rob continued competing; winning several competitions. During 1993 he won the Syracuse Grand Prix road racing series as well as several other local road races. Rob began swimming in 1999 and in 2001 won Gold Medals in the 50 meter freestyle and a Bronze Medal in the 100 meter freestyle. During 1999-2002 he had several top 10% finishes in sprint and Olympic distance triathlons.
Rob, who was named assistant professor in conservation in 2004, joined the faculty at FLCC as an adjunct professor in 2001. He became an assistant cross-country coach in 2002, assuming the position of head coach in 2004. Rob has been recognized for both athletic and non-athletic achievement during the seven years he has been employed at FLCC; named 2005 Region 3 Women's Cross-country Coach of the Year; established the FLCC track team in 2007 and assumed the position of head coach; 2004 adjunct of the year award; 2008 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence.
The first inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame occurred in 1991. Induction recognizes alumni athletes who serve as role models for current student athletes. The College and Department of Physical Education and Integrated Health Care are thrilled to honor Coach Robert A. Wink '90 with induction into the FLCC Athletic Hall of Fame.
