Women's Basketball Wins Regional Match-up Against Hudson Valley CC
Canandaigua, NY -- The FLCC women's basketball team defeated regional opponent Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday, December 3 and improve their season record to 6-3.
The Lakers started out slow in Saturday's contest, scoring only 11 points in the first quarter. Despite the slow start, the Lakers were able to score over 20 points in each of the remaining quarters, extending their lead over the Vikings by 22 points at one point during the third quarter. Finger Lakes CC would claim victory over Hudson Valley CC by a final score of 79-60.
Sophomore Megan Howell led the Lakers with a double double against the Vikings. She finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Katie DeJonge had a career best game on Saturday against the Vikings. She came off the bench to score 16 points, all in the second half. Janae Brannon finished with 14 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds. Krystal Hunter and Megan McAllister each finished with 12 points and seven rebounds apiece. Hunter would add six assists and five steals.
The Lakers will remain at home this weekend as they host the visiting Timberwolves from SUNY Adirondack Community College on Sunday, December 4. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. on Putt Moore Court.
