Lady Lakers Top Tompkins Cortland CC 65-58
The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team emerged victorious on Tuesday night in their first Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup of the 2016-17 season against Tompkins Cortland Community College. With the win, the Lakers improve their season record to 8-3.
The Lakers scored first in Tuesday's contest and retained the lead until three miuntes remaining in the first quarter. They remained behind for the majority of the second quarter until 2:46 remained in the second half. Finger Lakes would go on a 14-0 run to end the half ahead 34-26.
The Lakers would remain ahead of the Panthers until the start of the fourth quarter. There would be two lead changes in the final quarter. In the final minutes of Tuesday's contest, the Lakers went on an 11-4 run to claim a 65-58 victory over the Panthers.
Megan Howell led the Lakers offense. She finished 10-15 for 24 points and six rebounds. Ranaveya Richards and Janae Brannon had 13 points apiece. Brannon added nine rebounds, while Richards had six rebounds and six assists. Krystal Hunter rounded out the Lakers scoring with eight points.
The Lakers will continue on the road this weekend when they face Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Saturday, December 10. Following Saturday's contest, the Lakers will face Herkimer Community College on Sunday, December 11.
