Bio

Her Plaque Reads: Ericka Lehman-Washington was the first women's basketball player to earn All-American Honors at Finger Lakes Community College. During high school Ericka excelled in basketball, track, and volleyball (earing first place in discus throw in track for Districts and third place in the 3200 meter run in Districts), the value of both sports to her was in the off-season training they provided. During her senior year at Williamson High School in Tioga, PA in 1991, Ericka earned many basketball awards including induction into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame. Mickey Record, who was the FLCC women's basketball coach at the time, recruited her to attend FLCC to play basketball for the Lakers. True to her high school reputation, Ericka continued to break records; at a game at Corning Community College, she broke the record for all-time leading scorer and during a game at Jeffereson Community College, she scored her 1000th FLCC career point. Her skill and teamwork resulted in being named All-American, becoming the first FLCC female to earn that honor. Ericka credits her parents, Fred and Vickie Lehman, and Coach Mickey Record for her successful basketball career. Ericka earned an A.A. liberal arts and sciences degree in 1993 and transferred to and played a year of basketball for Keuka College.

Ericka, who currently lives in Elmira with her daughter Victoria Scott, worked as the regional sale manager at five radio stations throughout New York's Southern Tier. She currently owns and operates her own day care facility. April 2010 marked several in Ericka's life: she earned a bachelor's degree in human development with a concentration in early childhood education from SUNY Empire State College and on April 17 was married to Joseph Washington. She intends to begin work towards a master's degree in business administration and marketing from SUNY Empire State College in fall 2010.

The first inductees into the Finger Lakes Community College Athletic Hall of Fame occurred in 1991. Induction recognizes alumni who excelled as athletes on College teams and who since graduating serve as role models for current student athletes. The College and Department of Physical Education and Integrated Health Care are thrilled to honor Ericka Lehman-Washington '93 with induction into the FLCC Athletic Hall of Fame.
