Finger Lakes Finishes Fall Season at Paul Smith's
PAUL SMITHS, NY -- The Finger Lakes Woodsmen team competed in their final competition of the fall on October 25 at Paul Smith's College. The Lakers only entered three teams in the meet. The Jack and Jill team finished in second place and the Men's 1 team finished in 3rd place.
The Lakers continued a strong fall for having a young team. Not one of the 21 competitors have ever competed at Paul Smith's before this meet. The Jack and Jill 1 team won five total events at the meet. CJ Kouzan won the pole climb and Jakob Kelly won the single buck. In team competitions, John Babcock and Cece Frew won the cross cut to hell and the team of Mary Benincasa and Alexis Hallstead took the doubles quarter split. The Jack and Jill team won the bow saw. Of note for the Lakers was actually a second place finish by Alexis Halstead. She came in second in the boom run, her first time ever competing of it. She was one of only two competitors all-day to complete the 11-log course.
The Men's 1 team finished in third place in the Men's competition. Individually, Charles Tirado won the chain saw event. The Men's 2 team finished further down the standings, but did come in ahead of the ESF Ranger School 1 team.
This was the final competition of the fall season for the Lakers. FLCCAthletics.com will have full information on the spring season for the Lakers Woodsmen team when it becomes available.
