Jack and Jill Takes First at Paul Smith’s College
The Finger Lakes Community College Logging Sports Team competed in the Fall Festival Woodsmen's Competition on Saturday
PAUL SMITH'S, N.Y.- The Finger Lakes Community College Logging Sports Team competed in the Fall Festival Woodsmen's Competition on Saturday. Along with FLCC the participating schools were: Alfred State, Cobleskill, Dartmouth, SUNY ESF, Morrisville, Paul Smith's, Ranger School, University of Connecticut,and The University of Vermont.
The Jack and Jill Division took 1st place out of 7 teams with a total of 1029.70 points. This team comprised of: Justin Renk, Kevin Roelle, John Bateman, Emily Crooks, Morgan Opeil and Michaela Johnstone. The Jack and Jill Team placed 1st in Team Log Roll, Doubles Cross Cut to Hell (Emily Crooks and Justin Renk), Single Buck (Justin Renk) and Singles Pole Climb (Kevin Roelle).
The Women's Division took 2nd place out of 6 teams with a total of 1153.90 points. This team that has competed all semester together is comprised of : Emily Dobbs, Samantha Bower, Madeline Lippert, Melinda Waag, Sarah Middlebrook and Hannah Schaubert. The Women placed first in Singles Pole Climb (Samantha Bower), Single Buck (Madeline Lippert), Doubles Horizontal Chop (Emily Dobbs and Samantha Bower), Doubles Barrel Split (Melinda Waag and Madeline Lippert), and Team Bow Saw.
The Men's Division took 8th place out of 15 teams with a total of 730.40 points. This team is comprised of: William Chrysler, Benjamin Nixon, Garrett Kelledy, Nate Stuckey, Calum Ruxton and Hunter Chrysler. The men's team had strong showings Single Buck(Garrett Kelledy), Singles Cookie Stack (William Chrysler), and Singles Pole Climb(Nate Stuckey).
The Lakers will compete again next semester. Competition dates will be announced in February.
