Logging Sports Kickoff Spring Season
TULLY, N.Y.- The Finger Lakes Community College Logging Sports Team competed in the Annual East Coast Lumberjack Round-Up hosted by SUNY ESF on Saturday. Along with FLCC the participating schools were: Alfred State, Cobleskill, SUNY ESF, Morrisville, Paul Smith's, Ranger School and The University of Vermont.
The Women's Division took 2nd place out of 4 teams with a total of 1183.96 points. This team comprised of 3 returning athletes: Emma Meyers, Sophie Parshall, and Heather Weaver along with newcomers Emma Brooks, Leah Lloyd and Nita Schumacher. The Women placed first in singles Axe Throw (Emma Meyers), singles Disc Stack (Nita Schumacher) and doubles Firebuild (Emma Meyers and Sophie Parshall). The women's team had strong showings in
The Men's Division took 4th place out of 9 teams with a total of 1108.58 points. This team is comprised of 5 returning athletes Mason Bishop, Owen Probst, Zack Pack, John Bateman and Josh Cramer and newcomer Drew Forester. The men's team took first place in Team Packboard, Team Logroll and doubles Cross Cut to Hell (Mason Bishop and Drew Forester) The men's team had strong showings in
The Jack and Jill Division took 8th place out of 9 teams with a total of 773.36 points. This team comprised of 4 returning athletes: Zach Shirley, Andrew Jackson, Brian Hollister and Sheridan Verstraete and newcomers: Arabella Cruz and Ashley Crider. The Jack and Jill Team had strong showings in Team Pulp Toss, Doubles Firebuild (Arabella Cruz and Zach Shirley) and Singles Hard Hit (Brian Hollister).
The Lakers will compete next at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, April 16th with a start time of 8 AM.
