Her Plaque Reads: Growing up, Christine VanGee thrived on her family-owned horse business. As a child she earned recognition competing nationally on teams representing the Empire State Quarter Horse Association, and she served as a youth team advisor.

Christine entered the CCFL conservation program and joined the woodsmen team the fall of 1984. Her athletic ability, strength and endurance played a strong role in the women's team victory in the 1986 Spring Championship at Dartmouth College. Christine assumed her position as assistant coach of the woodsmen team in 1993 and initiated a personal training program to competition the professional level. She won the first officially recognized women's underhand chopping contest at the Lumberjack World Championships at Hayward, Wisc in 1994, Placed third in 1995 and first again in 1996. In recognition of her accomplishments, Christine earned an invitation to compete in an endurance relay on a team that included world champions and fellow FLCC Hall-Of-Famer Dave Jewett, '91 of Pittsford and Jason Wynyard of New Zealand. Today, Christine follows her family tradition as a third-generation horsewoman, conducting a comprehensive educational program. A signature event for her students involves extended trail excursions. As an equestrian naturalist, she is able to share a rich understanding of natural history while riding through meadows and forests both of New York state and South Carolina.
