PLATTSBURGH, NY -- The Finger Lakes Women's Soccer team won their third straight match on Sunday, beating Clinton Community College by the score of 4-0. The Lakers are now 4-2 on the season.
The Lakers scoring got underway in the 33rd minute off a corner kick. Valois Feneziani would find Rachel Hefner who found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Finger Lakes would increase the lead just 42 seconds later. Hefner would be involved once again, as she found Brittany Maggio with a pass that would spring Maggio on a breakaway. She would score for her team-leading 7th goal of the year.
Finger Lakes would get back on the scoreboard in the 67th minute as Rachel Graves was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. She would convert it for her first collegiate goal and extend the Lakers lead to 3-0. Amonie DiRoma would round out the scoring with a goal later off a pass from Danielle VonHahmann. The Lakers would preserve the shutout for Danielle Ogrodowski with the final score being 4-0.
The Lakers remain on the road this week. They will open regional play on Wednesday taking on the Kats of Erie Community College. Kickoff from Erie's South Campus in Orchard Park, NY is scheduled for 3pm.
