Canandaigua, NY -- The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team defeated, Region III opponent, the Tribunes from Monroe Community College by a final score of 1-0 on Saturday, September 10. The win puts the Lakers at 5-1 on the season.
The Lakers demonstrated great mental and physical toughness against the Tribunes. Despite being outshot 28-4, the Lakers continued their impressive defensive play. The Lakers got on the board late in the second half of play. Lindsey Lovett scored in th 82nd minute after going one-on-one with the Monroe keeper. The tribunes got off two more shot before the end of play, but the Lakers defense was up to the task and held out for a 1-0 victory. Abigail Miller was in the zone in goal for Finger Lakes, recording 16 saves and the shutout against the Tribunes.
The Lakers will travel to face the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday, September 14. Kickoff is set for 4pm.
