Women's Soccer Takes Two Victories Over Weekend

The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team finished their holiday weekend with victories over Clinton CC (7-0) on Saturday, September 3 and North Country CC (2-0) on Sunday, September 4. With the sweep, the Lakers improve their record to 3-1 on the season.

On Saturday, the Lakers controlled the tempo of the game, recording 32 total shots against the Cougars defense.  Finger Lakes got on the board early off the foot of Maddison Lowe (Pavilion, NY), assisted by Jennifer Pedro (Oakfield, NY).  In the 11th minute, Colby Kutzer (Greece, NY) scored off a feed from Pedro.  The Lakers scored two additional times before the half.  Miranda Clark (Palmyra, NY) and Abigail Keenan (Avon, NY) were the scorers, both assisted by Hayley Alden (Victor, NY).

The Lakers continued their offensive domination in the second half.  Lindsey Lovett (Bergen, NY) scored in the 52nd minute, assisted by Alden.  In the 58th minute, Allison Page (Albion, NY) scored off a feed from Pedro.  Keenan rounded out the Lakers scoring with her second goal of the day in the closing minutes of the match.  Abigail Miller (Andover, NY) and Samantha Clark (Palmyra, NY) split time in goal, with the only save of the day coming from Miller.

The Lakers high powered offense continued into Sunday's matchup against the Saints from North Country CC. They finished with 35 total shots in the match.  Alden scored the first goal of Sunday's contest off a feed from Carissa Perkins (Avon, NY).  Lovett put the Lakers up 2-0 off an assist from Pedro.  Miller played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lakers, recording eight saves and her second shutout of the season.

The Lakers will have their home opener of the 2016 season when they host the visiting Kats from Erie Community College on Wednesday, September 7.  Kickoff is set for 5pm.
