Volleyball – FLCC Drops Pair of Home Matches to Monroe CC & Alfred State

CANANDAIGUA – The Lady Lakers were victims of defeat at home on Thursday (9/13) to Monroe CC and Alfred State College.

Finger Lakes (3-9, 2-1 MSAC) fell in match one to the nation's 5th ranked team in Monroe – 21-25, 16-25, and 16-25. They then later came up short against Alfred State – 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 22-25. Both matches were a best-of-five series.

In the opener against Monroe, the Lady Lakers were led by Jordan Smith (outside hitter) and Conley Gayton in the losing effort. Smith compiled 12 kills and 13 digs while Gayton supplied the team with 24 assists and 10 digs.  

In the concluding match against Alfred State, Smith and Gayton performed well yet again. Smith registered 17 kills and 19 digs in the finale while Gayton came up with 33 assists and 10 digs. Joining Smith and Gayton with a quality showing in the match was that of Julianna Marcello (libero). Marcello chipped in with a team-high 23 digs.
