CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The #10-ranked Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to 12 matches this week, taking down Jefferson Community College 3–1 on Thursday before sweeping Mohawk Valley Community College 3–0 on Saturday at Monroe CC. The Lakers now sit at 17–3 overall and remain unbeaten in Mid-State Athletic Conference play.
In Thursday's home win over Jefferson (25-22, 25-15, 20-25, 25-13), Kayce Hennekey (Rochester, N.Y./West Irondequoit) paced the attack with 10 kills on .600 hitting. Anna Kurtzhalts (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) added 10 kills, while Allyson St. Germain (Cincinnatus, N.Y./Cincinnatus) contributed 8 kills, 12 digs, and 3 aces. Setter Olivia Scheuer (Constantia, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) directed the offense with 30 assists and added 4 aces, while Jackie Neureuter (Pembroke, N.Y./Pembroke) was strong on both sides of play with 4 kills and a team-high 7 aces.
The Lakers carried that momentum into Saturday's regional pod at Monroe CC, where they swept Mohawk Valley 3–0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-11). Finger Lakes hit .386 as a team, behind a balanced attack that saw Hennekey, Kurtzhalts, and Gabby Fenton (Buckeye, AZ./Odyssey Institute) each finish with 6 kills. Chloe Dailey (Liverpool, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) and Alexa Ocampo (Elba, N.Y./Elba) combined for 10 service aces, while Aubrie Tomlinson (Buffalo, N.Y./Frontier) led the defense with 7 digs.
