Lloyd Receives National Recognition

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Women's X/C student-athlete Leah Lloyd (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) has earned national recognition for her recent accomplishments for the Finger Lakes Community College Women's Cross Country team.

Lloyd has earned two 1st place finishes on the season thus far, her first, being a 1st place finish at the Steven A. Warde Invitiational, completing the 6k course in 25 minutes, 53.53 seconds. Lloyd then went on to deliver another great performance in front of a home crowd, when Finger Lakes Community College was host to the annual Bruce Bridgeman Invitiational. Lloyd showed out, finishing in 1st place with a time of 21 minutes, 44.4 seconds on the day.

This past weekend, the Lakers traveled to Roberts Wesleyan College for the Harry F. Anderson Invitational. In a stacked competition, the Lakers went up against several NCAA Division II and III insitutions, Lloyd completed the 5k course in 20 minutes, 8.2 seconds. Lloyd not only improved her previous 5k time by an entire minute, but also finished first among all Junior College athletes at the event, with a 48th place finish on the day.

Lloyd has made history with her performances, earning the honor of NJCAA Division III National Athlete of the Week by the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Lloyd is the first female runner in Finger Lakes Community College Cross Country history to earn the honor. Lloyd looks to carry her success over to this Saturday, Oct. 2nd when the team travels to Cazenovia College for the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational.
