Giese and Taylor Lead Lakers To Second Straight Win

FRANKLIN, MA. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (2-2, 0-0 MSAC) took down Dean College today on the road by a score of 10-7. The game, which was tied 6-6 at halftime, consisted of the Lakers turning in a stellar defensive showing in the second half, holding Dean to just one goal. Today's win, which marked the second in a row for Finger Lakes, was highlighted by the exceptional play of Cale Giese (attack, freshman, Kamloops, British Columbia Canada) and Joshua Taylor (attack, sophomore, Calgary, Alberta Canada). Both Giese and Taylor each notched a hat-trick and an assist for the Lakers. Giese and Taylor are now tied for the team lead in goals scored with 10 each.

Finger Lakes also received one goal each from Steve Campaniello (attack, sophomore, Rochester, NY), Matt Fuller (midfield, freshman, Medina, NY), Chris Tauterouff (defense, sophomore, Canandaigua, NY), and Rob Pelkey (midfield, freshman, Fairport, NY). Campaniello tacked on 2 assists for the Lakers, tying teammate Albert Thompson (midfield, freshman, Medina, NY) for team-high honors.

RJ Bailey (midfield, sophomore, Warsaw, NY) and Jack Timerson (midfield, freshman, Newark, NY) each added 1 assist apiece for Finger Lakes in the win.

In goal, John Perrucci (freshman, Myrtle Beach, SC) turned in his best game of the early 2012 season (playing in all 60 minutes of the game) for the Lakers by recording 16 saves.

Finger Lakes will look to extend its win streak to three games on Wednesday (3/14) when they take on #4 nationally ranked Genesee Community College at home. The game, which will be the Lakers first home contest of the season, is slated to start at 4:00 pm.
