The Finger Lakes Community College lacrosse team finished the regular season 9-9 and will be the fourth seeded team in the Region III tournament after defeating both Jefferson Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College this past weekend. They will host the fifth seeded Bulldogs from Dean College in the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 26.
The Lakers defeated the Cannoneers from Jefferson Community College by a score of 15-4 on Saturday, April 23. Matt Spoor played all but four minutes in goal for the Lakers, recording 20 saves. Matt Hall, Alex Chiara, Ethan Bakogiannis and Zakk Mount finished with three goals apiece and a combined four assists. Ben Sennet had two goals for the Lakers. Branden Dickson had one goal and one assist. Andrew Buck finished with three assists against the Cannoneers.
The Lakers topped the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College by a score of 23-14 on Sunday, April 24. Goalies Matt Spoor and Connor Tickner split time in goal for the Lakers. Spoor finished with 16 saves and Tickner with 4 saves. Ales Chiara scored six goals for Finger Lakes and added two assists. Konnor Bick and Matt Hall had four goals and one assist apiece. Ethan Bakogiannis and Branden Dickson each finished with a hat trick. Andrew Buck had two goals and three assists.
The no. 4 seeded Lakers will host the no. 5 seeded Bulldogs at 4PM on Tuesday, April 26, in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 NJCAA Region III Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Winner of Tuesday's game will face the no. 1 seeded Lazers from Onondaga CC on Saturday, April 30, at 12PM.
