The Finger Lakes Community College lacrosse team fell to the Tribunes from Monroe Community College on Wednesday, April 7, by a final score of 12-10. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 6-6 overall this season.
The Lakers fell behind early as they were outscored by the Tribunes five to one in the first quarter. Finger Lakes closed the gap by the end of the half, trailing five goals to seven. The Lakers defense shut the Tribunes attack down in the third quarter, holding them to just one goal.
Finger Lakes capitalized on the opportunity and scored four goal, taking the lead by a score of 9-8 by the end of the third. The Tribunes responded in the fourth quarter scoring four additional goals, eventually earning the victory with a 12-10 final score.
Sophomore Matt Spoor played the entire game in the net for the Lakers, recording fourteen saves. Andrew Buck and Matt Hall each finished the game with a hat trick. Buck also added an assist. Zakk Mount and Alex Chiara had two goals apiece. Ethan Bakogiannis finished with three assists for Finger Lakes.
The Lakers will return to action this weekend when the host the Hornest from SUNY Broome Community College on Saturday, April 9, in a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup. The game is set to begin at 1PM.
