Lakers Split Weekend Home Stand, Set Program Scoring Record in Saturday Win

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball delivered a historic performance in Saturday's 109-30 win over SUNY Adirondack before falling 72-53 to Hudson Valley on Sunday to close out the weekend.

The Lakers erupted for a program-record 109 points, breaking the previous single-game scoring mark in a dominant victory. Finger Lakes opened the afternoon with a 42-point first quarter and never slowed, putting together one of the most complete offensive outings in program history.

Ava Read (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) led the charge with a milestone performance of her own, finishing with 39 points, 10 rebounds, 12 steals, and 8 assists. Her 39 points rank second-most in a single game in program history, while her 6 three-pointers and 12 steals each tied for second-most all-time.

The Lakers had three players reach double figures. Breanna Dunning (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) added 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 steals, and Ella Robinson (Hallstead, PA./Blue Ridge) totaled 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Kayla Taylor (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) anchored the interior with 11 rebounds, helping Finger Lakes dominate the boards 65-35.

In Sunday's matchup, the Lakers couldn't replicate their pace against SUNY Adirondack, falling to Hudson Valley 72-53. Ella Robinson paced Finger Lakes with 24 points and 9 rebounds, knocking down 5 threes to keep the Lakers within striking distance.

Ava Read posted a strong outing with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Breanna Dunning added 9 points and Kayla Taylor contributed 6 points.

Finger Lakes made 6 three-pointers and shot 83% from the free-throw line, but Hudson Valley's balanced scoring and second-quarter surge proved to be the difference.
