Lakers Drop Midweek Matchups to Corning and Monroe

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball closed out a challenging midweek stretch with losses to Corning and Monroe on back-to-back nights.

The Lakers opened the week on Tuesday, December 9th, with an 85-35 loss to Corning Community College, before returning to the floor Wednesday night and falling 86-32 to Monroe Community College at home.

Against Monroe, Finger Lakes faced an uphill battle early as the Tribunes used a strong second quarter to build separation. Monroe outscored the Lakers 30-2 in the second frame, creating a gap that proved difficult to close despite a strong fourth quarter from Finger Lakes.

Ava Read (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) led the Lakers with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block, battling inside while logging 38 minutes. Ella Robinson (Hallstead, PA./Blue Ridge) added 8 points and 2 steals, while Breanna Dunning (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) finished with 8 points.

Kierra Shaughnessy (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) contributed 8 rebounds to round out the evening.
