Lakers Pick Up Two Top-10 Finishes at Bruce Bridgeman Inviational
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Lakers men's and women's cross country team competed in the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational which is held annually in memoriam of long-time Lakers coach Bruce Bridgeman. This was the second meet of the season for the Lakers, who look to follow up on a successful 2021 season in 2022.
Women
On the women's side, the team would pick up two top-10 finishes, starting with Sophomore Leah Lloyd (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra) who picked up the 3rd-place position with a time of 22:08.7. Following Lloyd for the Lakers was Freshman Morgan Cheney (Prattsburgh, N.Y./ Prattsburgh) who picked up a 10th-place finish with a time of 27:58.4. Sophomore Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) rounded out the day for the Lakers with an 18th-place finish and a time of 38:58.3.
Men
On the men's side, the Lakers came away with a 4th-place team finish. Lakers Freshman Michael Oberdorf (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) earned the top spot for his team on the day, placing 13th with a time of 31:17.8. Fellow Freshman teammate Jackson McManus (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Arcadia) trailed closely behind, finishing in 17th-place with a time of 31:59.9. Sophomores Jacob DiGiovanni (Waterloo, N.Y./ Waterloo) and John Zimmerman (Middlesex, N.Y./ Marcus Whitman) earned the next two finishes for the Lakers, with DiGiovanni placing 32nd with a time of 32:54.5 and Zimmerman placing 39th and picking up a time of 34:07.4.
