Lakers Pick Up Two Victories in Dominant Showing

Canandaigua, N.Y. – The Lakers returned home for a tri-match against Hamilton College and Colgate University, putting together an impressive performance in front of their home crowd.  The Lakers opened the day with a dominant victory over Hamilton, taking the match in straight sets. In the second match of the tri-match, they continued their strong play and defeated Colgate University.

Game 1 Vs Hamilton

Braden Whitcomb (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) led the offensive effort with five kills on six swings. Joe Massey (Goodyear, AZ. / Odyssey Institute)

also turned in a solid performance, recording five kills on ten swings. Freshmen Zach Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) and Ben Zipprich (Penfield / Floyd e. Kellam Highschool) each added five kills as well, rounding out a balanced attack for the Lakers.

Cole Thomas (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Chittenango) directed the offense with 17 assists and added two service aces. Freshman Jackson Blaszow (Chittenango) also contributed in the setting role, finishing the match with eight assists.  Sophomore Jack Donovan (Oswego, N.Y. / Oswego) would contribute a team high 10 digs in the match. 

Game 2 Vs Colgate

Jackson Blaszow (Chittenango) and Zach Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) led the way offensively for the Lakers, racking up eight kills apiece.  Ethan Bond (Phelps, N.Y. / Midlakes), Braden Whitcomb (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy), and Jaylen Ridgeway (Gates Chili, N.Y. / Gates Chili) would all contribute 4 kills.  

Jake Seklar (Rochester, N.Y. / Gates Chili) turned in a strong all-around performance, finishing with six kills, 16 assists, and six digs.

Dominick Alverado (York, PA. / Northeastern)turned in a strong all-around performance, finishing with six kills, 16 assists, and six digs.

 

The Lakers will next take the court on March 19 when they face Misericordia JV.
